Guitar, Saxophone & Bass Instructor at Houston Conservatory of Music

Tannon Gilmore is a music educator, multi-instrumentalist, conductor, and recording artist with more than 25 years of experience in music education and professional performance. His musical journey began at age six with his first guitar, and his talent soon earned him a place at Houston's prestigious Johnston Middle School for Performing and Visual Arts, where he also excelled on saxophone, earning first chair honors for two consecutive years.
Awarded a full scholarship to Texas Southern University, Tannon became a member of the renowned Ocean of Soul Marching Band and the TSU Jazz All Star Band, and served as President of Kappa Kappa Psi. While still a student, he launched his professional touring career with Grammy Award winning artist Usher, going on to perform with artists across gospel, jazz, R&B, hip hop, and pop, including Kirk Whalum, Sean Combs, Nelly, Mýa, and the Houston Grand Opera. He has also contributed as a musician on three Grammy Award winning recordings.
With more than fifteen years devoted to developing young musicians, Tannon brings his professional experience directly into the classroom, emphasizing musicianship, discipline, creativity, and lifelong learning. He currently serves as Director of Music for Guitarstar, leading a comprehensive music program for students from Pre-K through 12th grade and helping each student build both artistic excellence and real world musical skills.
